If you want real land in Miami-Dade, South Dade is where most of it is. This page shows every single-family home with a Homestead address on one acre (43,560 sq ft) or more, updated from the MLS throughout the day. Many of these homes sit in the unincorporated Redland just northwest of the city, which uses a Homestead mailing address.
Homestead was incorporated in 1913, making it the second-oldest city in Miami-Dade County. The farm belt around it, the Redland, was named for the pockets of red clay over its limestone and has been growing tropical fruit for more than a century: mango, avocado, lychee, longan and more. Plant nurseries fill much of the rest of the land.
Living here means fruit stands like Robert Is Here, seasonal strawberries at Knaus Berry Farm, the county's Fruit & Spice Park, and both Everglades and Biscayne National Parks within an easy drive.
Much of the Redland lies outside Miami-Dade's urban development boundary, where agricultural zoning generally calls for about five acres per new home; older one- to two-and-a-half-acre ranchettes predate those rules. If you plan to build, add a guest house or split a lot, confirm the zoning first.
Live MLS data, rounded; figures change daily.
