Pelican Sound is one of the gated neighborhoods of the SilverLakes Community Association. Its entrance has a 24-hour manned guard gate, sharing the Silver Lakes security gate off Miramar Parkway and SW 178th Avenue. The single-family homes were built in 1999 and 2000 and are among the largest in Silver Lakes, with 4 to 6 bedrooms, 3 to 5 baths and roughly 2,900 to 3,900 square feet; common floor plans in recent sales are about 2,947, 3,439, 3,579 and 3,901 square feet. Homes are on SW 35th Drive, SW 35th Court and SW 177th Avenue.

The neighborhood has its own playground but no neighborhood pool.
